WorldRemit is a unique, entrepreneurial and ambitious international money transfer business that’s attracted major investment. In the newly created role of Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and Central Costs, our client contact, Julia, faced a tough remit: set up an improved FP&A and finance business partnering process that would realise company aspirations following significant growth and a recent M&A.
Quickly recognising that she needed to add a number of critical roles to the team, Julia worked with JSS Director of Accountancy and Finance, Tom Reynolds, to create a new team structure. Some roles were crucial to the new set-up, so she worked with Tom to fill them as temp/perm options. Others were less crucial, so Senior Consultant, Elliott McAusland, partnered with Julia on permanent options. Getting the personality fit right was paramount. Julia wanted knowledgeable doers, ready to roll up their sleeves and drive transformation. For some roles, the fit was so finely-tuned that only one candidate progressed successfully from first interview to offer.
Overall, we placed three contractors and four permanent hires into various roles in Julia’s team. Four months into her new job, Julia has successfully onboarded the key people and has a team on the ground that are enthusiastic, collaborative and supportive of each other. It’s testament to how effectively we screened not only for skills and experience, but also for the right personality fit.
