JSS were referred to the CEO of a middle-market healthcare professional services firm that had received significant private equity investment. The firm needed to grow rapidly as they looked towards an exciting exit event in 2025. The firm had built an exceptional reputation within the healthcare technology implementation space, frequently competing and winning projects against the largest consulting firms in the world. However, with the need to grow and diversify their service offering into the broader healthcare strategy and operations space, top-tier executive leaders were needed to build, lead, and grow an initial two new practice areas.
The CEO felt the experience and expertise that the JSS team brought to the table would make us an excellent partner for the search. JSS outperformed two of the SHREK firms during the vetting process. During the briefing process, JSS spoke with seven c-level executives at the firm, as well as two of the PE Partners. The JSS team had garnered a deep understanding into the growth objectives of the firm, the investor rationale, the required candidate expertise, equity plans and compensation, business culture as well as the potential executive pushbacks we would encounter in the market. We were now in an excellent position to go out to the market.
The JSS team generated an initial long list of 250 senior executives at the Partner/Managing Director level that had built and grown new practice areas within the healthcare advisory space. We began our three-round assessment process via conference calls, vetting relevant senior executives whose interest had been piqued by our initial outreach. Over the course of a four-week period, JSS had vetted 187 executives and were in a position to share an initial shortlist of the six strongest executives. Over the course of the next two months, whereby rigorous interviews and in-person strategy meetings took place, the firm appointed two new practice builders to the firm.
Ben Houston of JSS search has been doing an excellent job on key executive search roles for our portfolio companies. It is rare that we hear our operating and deal team members sing the praises of a particular Exec Search professional but that is indeed the case with Ben.
