Our extensive market mapping helped us target individuals who had worked within similar organisations but on a similar growth trajectory to what ASC were going on.  This ensured we had a very targeted list of organisations and people whom we could approach with tangibly relevant experience.  We were extremely proactive and inclusive with our advertising strategy by ensuring underrepresented groups would have gained access to the candidate pack.

Promoting a culture of diversity

At JSS, we are authentic and genuine when supporting our customers commitment to equal opportunities for all, whilst ensuring as an organisation we practice what we preach.

We strongly value diversity across all its dimensions, including social background, race, gender and disability. Our staff are trained in inclusion and avoiding unconscious bias, driven at Board level by our co-founder and Diversity Champion Rashi Elkinson. All recruitment processes are fully inclusive focused on the best person for the job regardless of any protected characteristic, and we ensure all advertisements and materials use inclusive language and promote equal opportunities. We promote the Disability Confident scheme and guaranteed interviews wherever appropriate.

We recognise the risk in headhunting senior candidates of perpetuating lack of diversity; for this reason we specifically target diverse candidates, reaching out to a wide range of target organisations including large private sector customers. 

We make the interview process as inclusive as possible; where appropriate, we can support remote interviewing or invite candidates and customers to our fully accessible offices.

Within JSS - Public Sector & Not-for-Profit, we support our customers by hosting round table diversity & inclusion discussions to ensure the subject remains top of the agenda and we continue to ensure the organisations we support reflect the communities that they serve.

But commitment to diversity is about actions and outcomes much more than words and good Intentions; last year we appointed 71% of women and minority candidates into senior appointments and we maintain our commitment to identifying diverse and representative shortlists.

We believe that in order to fully partner with the charitable sector, we must contribute to their good work, which Is why we've partnered with Connections at St Martins, a leading homeless charity. To contribute to the wider conversation and raise awareness on several relevant yet challenging topics, we frequently publish research & insight-based articles. We cover topics spanning inclusive recruitment, sustainable initiatives, company culture, and leadership coaching for the introverted.
